Yeditepe University Research-Development and Analysis Laboratory-Food Laboratories

YÜ-AGAM Food Analysis Laboratory, authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has been accredited by TÜRKAK in accordance with the TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard and serves within this framework.

In parallel with the increasing world population, the importance of food is constantly increasing. With the increasing importance of food, food safety and consumer health have gained a high degree of importance.

The quality of food, which directly affects consumer health, is related to the following factors.

Basic Food Chemistry

Food items

Minerals

Toxins

Dyestuffs

Heavy metals

Food Additives

Agrochemicals Used in Herbal Food Production

Feed and Feed Additives Used in Animal Food Production

Food Packaging

Food Hygiene is inversely proportional to;

the ingredients added,

the equipment used,

the working personnel

the packaging used

the ambient air

the bacterial load.

Foods go through many processes until they are ready for consumption and face many contamination risks. For this reason, microbiological analysis is very important in terms of the safety of both the ready-to-consumption state of the food and the processes it goes through.

In recent years, Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) and GMO products have become a subject of various discussions in the world and in our country. With the modern biotechnology techniques developed since the early 1970s, it has been possible to make changes in the genetic structure of living things that cannot be achieved by traditional breeding methods and natural reproduction processes.

Plants, animals or microorganisms, which cannot be obtained naturally by transferring a gene other than its own kind using gene technology, and which have gained new and different characteristics, are generally called "Genetically Modified Organism (GMO)" or simply "Transgenic".

GMO products have been produced commercially since the mid-1990s. On production; it is aimed to produce foods that are resistant to diseases and harmful organisms, have a longer shelf life, resistant to weed pesticides, have high nutritional value and at the same time delicious, and to obtain more efficiency from the unit area in the planted land. In the world, GMO products are produced in approximately 25 countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Spain, Brazil, China and India. Corn, soybean, cotton, rapeseed are the most produced GMO products.

With our expert staff and state-of-the-art devices in our laboratory, studies are carried out for safe food in the Physical and Chemical Analysis Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory and GMO Laboratory established in accordance with the regulations.

Official samples submitted by the ministries are also analyzed in our laboratory.

For the reliability of our analysis methods, we periodically participate in national and international qualification and comparison tests and get successful results.
